Have you been laid off without 60 days' notice? The WARN Act is a federal law that protects your rights by entitling you up to 60 days' worth of total compensation if you were laid off without at least 60 days' notice.

For a layoff to qualify for action under the federal WARN Act, the following must occur:

An employer must have laid off 100 or more full-time employees who work more than six of the past 12 months and average over 20 hours a week (note that most government employers are not covered),

or

50 or more employees are laid off from a single location/facility.

There are other factors to consider including some state WARN Acts that provide additional protection.
